Hi friends!

May was the month where The Loser started stepping off the page and into the real world. We brought new creative collaborators onto the team, joined an exciting feature film accelerator, made little crafts, and began building the handmade world Daniel and his friends live in. It’s still early, but for the first time, it’s starting to feel like the movie is becoming something you can see, touch, and be a part of.

💛 Help us grow the Loser Club!
Right now, growing this community is one of the most meaningful ways you can help The Loser. Every new subscriber helps us show that there’s an audience for this weird, heartfelt movie as we move toward funding and production.

BIG NEWS!

The Loser Joins The Female Lens: Feature Film Greenlight Accelerator

We’re thrilled to share that The Loser has been selected for the Female Lens Feature Film Greenlight Accelerator, presented by Blackmagic Collective- a program supporting female-led feature films as they move toward production.

We’re also incredibly excited to officially welcome Emmy-winning sound and Foley editor Matthew Festle and filmmaker/FX artist Alexys Paonessa as producers on the film. With over 300 combined film and television credits, they bring invaluable experience, insight, and heart to this project.

This is a huge step forward for our unusual little movie, and we’re so grateful to have you along for the journey as we continue working to bring The Loser to life.

Mr. Fezziwig is Coming to Life

Development has officially begun on Mr. Fezziwig, Daniel’s beloved puppet companion! We’re working with a wonderful artist, Jax (@rtwoarts), to begin shaping his design, and we cannot wait to eventually introduce this very special little fellow to the world.

Our First Flower Friends Craft Night

We hosted our very first Flower Friends craft night, inviting a few lovely guests into Daniel’s strange and sincere little world. Everyone painted and personalized wooden flower friends, created backstories for them, and introduced their new companions in a delightfully awkward ceremony led by Daniel himself.

It was small, sweet, wonderfully weird, and exactly the kind of community we hope to grow around The Loser.

A New Homemade Look

This month, Caroline created a new handmade logo for The Loser, inspired by faded family fun centers, handmade crafts, and the odd little places that feel magical precisely because they are imperfect.

It captures so much of Daniel’s world: playful, awkward, colorful, and made with love.

Up-Coming

Next up, we’ll be diving further into the visual world of the film- looking for locations with the perfectly faded, out-of-time charm of Daniel’s world, continuing to bring Mr. Fezziwig to life, and creating more little glimpses into the humor and heart of the movie.

Behind the scenes, we’ll also be strengthening our production plans and continuing to grow the Loser Club as we move closer to the funding phase of the film.

Thank you for being here at the strange, handmade beginning of it all. 💛
